RCSI/COSECSA COLLABORATION PROGRAMME
Global Surgery Research Support 2023/2024
Globally, over 5 billion people lack access to safe, affordable and timely surgical care with the majority being in sub-Saharan Africa. Through the Collaboration Program (CP) the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI) and the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA), have continued to train surgeons in Membership, Fellowship and Sub-specialty Fellowship. This has contributed in the development of surgical workforce in the region. However, there is a paucity of global surgery research originating from the region, with most of research being from and done by colleagues from HICs.
In Collaboration with RCSI (CP), COSECSA aims to strengthen the research activities in the region. Therefore, we are inviting COSECSA trainees and fellows to send an expression of interest for this call.
The Fellows Global Surgery Research Support will provide a grant of up to $3,000 to implement their proposed research projects.
This Programme will prepare COSECSA fellows to be future global surgery researchers and surgeon scientists to contribute in scientific publications and participate in global surgery conferences for disseminating final results of their projects. It will also prepare them to undertake Post-fellowship Research training programs.
