COSECSA is pleased to announce a one-day, hands-on Principles of Laparoscopic Surgery (PLS) course, to be held as a pre-conference workshop of the 26th COSECSA Scientific Conference in collaboration with The Surgical Association of Malawi (SAM). The course takes place on Saturday 28 November 2026, from 8am to 6pm, at the Bingu International Conference Center (BICC) in Lilongwe, Malawi.
PLS is designed to give trainees and surgeons essential knowledge and practical skills in core laparoscopic surgery. It provides foundational training and serves as a preparatory step for proficiency-based certification programmes such as the LapPass® examination, an educational offering of the Association of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALRSGBI). Participants will practise on simulation platforms under expert guidance and receive feedback from experienced local and international surgical faculty. The Course Director is Professor Bijendra Patel, UK.
The course is open to surgical trainees and consultants from all surgical specialties and is free to attend. Hands-on places are limited to the first 16 applicants, while additional registrants can attend to observe and join the theory lectures. To apply, complete the application form BY CLICKING HERE
