COSECSA’s Plastic Surgery Fellows from Uganda Shine at the 2025 ASPS International Residents World Cup Championship.

COSECSA’s Plastic Surgery Fellows from Uganda made an outstanding impression at the 2025 ASPS International Residents World Cup Championship, showcasing their exceptional knowledge and surgical skill on a global platform.

Representing the Uganda COSECSA Training Centre, the fellows captured attention after defeating defending champions Taiwan in Round 3, with a remarkable score of 4332, particularly excelling in paediatric burns. Their performance drew admiration and curiosity from global peers about the COSECSA training model, especially the structured mentorship and rigorous clinical training provided in Uganda.

The competition featured top teams from around the world — including Australia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Argentina — with Uganda’s fellows progressing all the way to the quarter finals against Saudi Arabia, demonstrating resilience, skill, and the growing excellence of plastic surgery training in the region.

As the only African team to reach the quarter finals, Uganda’s journey has not only elevated the profile of COSECSA’s Plastic Surgery Fellowship Program but also reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to world-class surgical education.
