Scholarship Programme
Purpose
COSECSA offers several scholarship programmes to support trainees and Fellows at various stages: entry into training, fellowship examination, subspecialty training, research grants, travel grants, etc. These scholarships help reduce financial barriers, promote gender equity, and build capacity in underserved regions.
Major Scholarship Types & Examples
FCS Examination Programme Scholarship (for final-year trainees): Covers programme entry, exam fees, graduation registration
Fellowship Grant: Enables post-qualification fellowship (after FCS) in a specific sub-speciality (endoscopy) with full funding
3 Year FCS Scholarships: Fully funded Scholarships for individuals wishing to undertake a 3 year FCS programme under COSECSA
Leadership / Management Scholarships: a hybrid 1 year Professional Diploma in Clinical Leadership. From RCSI
Travel Grants: Awarded to a trainee/fellow to present their research paper at the annual COSECSA Scientific Conference.

Impact & Achievements
Over 400 scholarships (training, exam, exchange, travel, post-fellowship) have been offered across COSECSA programmes from 2020-2025.
Scholarships have supported equitable inclusion (e.g. reserving spots for female surgeons) in some programmes.These investments help reduce attrition, improve representation, and allow talented trainees from resource-limited settings to complete training
