The College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) is pleased to invite applications for the COSECSA-BJS Lectureship, which will be delivered during the 26th COSECSA Annual Scientific Conference in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The Lectureship provides a platform for COSECSA Fellows to share impactful ideas, experiences, innovations, and research that contribute to advancing surgical care, education, policy, and systems strengthening within the region and globally. The initiative is part of the ongoing collaboration between COSECSA and the British Journal of Surgery (BJS).
The selected lecturer will receive an honorarium of €1,500 and will deliver the lecture during the conference on 3–4 December 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a COSECSA Fellow in good standing.
- Have demonstrated contributions or a strong interest in advancing surgery through clinical practice, education, research, innovation, advocacy, or leadership.
- Be available to travel to Malawi and present at the conference.
Application Requirements

- A current Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- A summary of the proposed lecture topic including:
- Title of the lecture.
- Summary of work undertaken.
- Relevance and significance to surgery.
