The College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) is now accepting submissions for the 2026 Lindsay Stewart Prize, awarded for the best scientific paper presented by a trainee at the COSECSA Conference in Lilongwe, Malawi, on 3rd and 4th December 2026.
The prize is open to young surgeons registered in a COSECSA Training Programme. Awarded in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, it includes a medal and £1,000, to be presented at the closing ceremony of the scientific conference on Friday 4th December.
To be eligible, the paper must be original work, presented in person by the first author, and the abstract must have been accepted for oral presentation by the conference’s scientific committee. Applicants must submit their abstract, proof of acceptance for oral presentation, and a covering letter from their Head of Department confirming the work is original.

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS:
- The content of the paper must be original
- The presenter must be the 1st author
- The paper must be presented by the first author in person at the conference.
- The abstract must have been accepted for oral presentation by the scientific committee of the conference
- The award will be announced at the closing ceremony of the AGM.
